Perfect setting, perfect pizza, delightful staff. The tempeh bacon was far from my favorite but the herb tofu was splendid. The curry pizza is vital.

LOVE the fact that GR has a Vegan Pizza Place!!!!! The specials are always unique and delicious. Their Sunday Deal is great: large, 18 inch specialty pizza with garlic bread sticks for $20. Although the bread sticks were just okay, for the deal, it was worth it.

I love the farm to table pizza aspect, I like to try adventuresome foods and will usually blindly order the creation of the day, sometimes it's been good, and sometimes I wondered why I did it, just cause you can imagine what it may look like, doesn't mean it will.

My girlfriend and I get a large cheese pizza every couple weeks from this place. The price was $10 for an 18" so it made for a really good deal that would fill us both up plus some. But tonight I went to pick one up and found that the price increased $2. Now, that's fine in my book. And I didn't check the menu or anything so I can't blame them for that. But then I got home and we opened it to find that we were definitely given a pizza that was a medium, if not small, inside an 18" box. So at that point, I payed more for a pizza that was smaller than I expected. And then were really bummed with the quality. It looked good, but someone definitely went crazy with the fennel. I don't have an aversion to it either. So maybe we'll give this place a chance again, but not for awhile.

They wouldn't make a 9 minute drive for a delivery because it was "too far away." Terrible customer service.

  • Chase B.

Great thin pizza. The pesto breadsticks were unique and delicious. Delivery was fairly quick, but did have a $20 minimum.

  • Jakin T.

Excellent unique pizzas! I think as far as unique pizzas go, this place is by far my favorite. I usually have them surprise me and I've never been let down. Super fresh, super healthy, can't go wrong!

  • Allen T.

Really good vegan pizza and the vegan pizza rolls are even better. The chorizo walnuts are awesome, definitely give them a try even if you're not vegetarian/vegan. The lunch deal is a good deal (two slices for $6) and there are always slices ready to go, so it's good if you need a quick grab. What kept this from 5-stars is that we've had varying levels of service. Sometimes it's really nice and other times it hasn't been, especially on the phone. We've had some absolutely terrible phone service with them.

As a fan of Barter Town, I knew I had to try the newest restaurant for the owners, Cult (CVLT) Pizza. What I love most about Barter Town and now Cult Pizza, is that both operate as a collective where workers are involved in everything from making food to maintaining the books. All employees are "owners" in the business and have equal say in the food, the cooking, and the service with equal pay across. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for years (and got screwed out of pay and respect) this perspective is refreshing and necessary to create happy workers in a thriving community. The food is higher priced because of this philosophy but with a dedicated staff, I will happily pay more. Cult Pizza serves pizza with locally grown veggies, cheese, and meats from local sources. As such, Cult Pizza's menu changes frequently depending on the season. They even recycle their compost making it a super green business! As for the food: the pizza is "New York" style thin crust. My cheese pizza slice was closer to tissue paper thin and I ended up using a fork to eat it. The husband's pizza seemed thicker to keep all his toppings on. The daughter's pizza had cheese and sausage pizza and she liked it. Dispite all there is to love about Cult Pizza, the only reason I wouldn't dine in again was because I found the black and white decor jarring. The walls are stark white with black trim on the doors and window. The seats and tables are black too. They have pennant style lighting above the tables with exposed, bright white bulbs. The large paintings help break up the basic colors but with the high ceilings, the large paintings make the space seem more expansive, instead of cozy. Painting even one of the walls on the dining side a color or adding a few plants, would go along way to making it more inviting. Even so, they have to-go and delivery options, so I can still get their delish food without eating in.

Delicious and unique thin-crust pizza with high quality ingredients. Many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options as well. Also, you might not think to order it, but the salad here is killer.

Speaking as a non-local, it's the best pizza in GR. Highest quality ingredients, and the only pizza you can eat and feel *great* after. Support--but more importantly ENJOY--this unique, local, healthy business.

Love this place!! They use the best ingredients and have some of the best vegetarian and vegan pizza options around! Very cool atmosphere and these people really care about what they serve and its impact! They have daily slices they create and its nice to try something truly unique!

  • Daniel S.

Many good vegan options which is great for someone who cannot eat dairy. Many different interesting options. That being said, sadly I felt the pizza was a bit too bland. It really depends on what you like about pizza. If you only care about toppings then you may like it, if you prefer a flavorful crust you may not like it. Worth trying at least.

Literally the worst pizza I've ever had. We had 1 large pepperoni and 1 large sausage and it was horrible. The pizza had hardly and sauce and a very thin layer of cheese. Someone walked in the room and said, "what is that awful smell?" It was the pizza.. It doesn't matter how hungry you are...Don't waste your money

Great thin crust pizza. The ghost pepper sauce is amazing. Cool place to eat with great service and conversation. Local ingredients and great food make this place a must.

Cvlt Pizza is by far my favorite pizza in town. If you haven't tried their vegan pizza rolls, you're missing out! I had my non/anti vegan friends try a few, and now they are obsessed just as much as I am. The atmosphere is pretty hipster, but everyone is chill. The best part is that they have farm to table pizza and vegan pizza now.

I recently moved back to Grand Rapids, and I am so happy to find that this place has sprung up. I never thought I'd be able to find vegan pizza by the slice in GR! The pizza offerings change every couple of days, and I haven't had one I didn't like. I am not in the tofu fan club, but they had one with such perfectly cooked tofu and chard I cannot stop thinking about it. The breadsticks also change frequently, and the pesto ones I tried were fabulous. Why has no one thought to put pesto in breadsticks until now?! The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic. Can't recommend it enough! I will be supporting this local business for all of my pizza needs. They also have pies with cheese and meat, so the carnisaurus rexes in your life will love it too (although they should give the vegan options a try, can't imagine anyone not liking them!).

  • Sarah S.

I've never had anything here that I didn't love. Awesome vegan and vegetarian creations, as well as meat options. They even offer those options by the slice! Everything is fresh, handmade, and locally sourced.

  • El P.

Awesome! The owner/chef is super friendly! I love what he's doing and the direction he takes his restaurants. The vegan options are the best in gr.

I am all for farm to table, locally sourced ingredients that are organics, etc. but not if that forces me to sacrifice on taste. The pizza just did not taste that good. The crust had tons of raw flour on it, the pepperoni was too think thick, and it just generally didn't taste that good. I am hoping that I caught them on a bad night, or just ordered the wrong thing because I really want to like this place. I plan to give it another try and hope to experience what all the other people who have given it rave reviews have experienced.

Cult Pizza is a relatively new artisan pizzeria in downtown GR that specializes in creating pizzas made from all locally grown produce. I had not yet heard of them, but my friend and I were walking downtown this past Saturday and needed something to eat before we got to the Art Museum (and being that my friend is vegetarian and I am vegan we doubted we'd find something to eat at Festival). Luckily she had heard of a place that was on our way, called Cult Pizza (or Cvlt as they spell it). Now, being a vegan I am always excited when I hear of a new place that offers vegan food, so we gave it a try. Because we were itching to get on our way to the GRAM we decided to go with pizza by the slice (since it was already made and was just $3 and $4 a slice). The selection was awesome and very creative! I got the stuffed tofu scramble (like a egg scramble) pizza and my friend got the three vegan cheese and vegan chorizo. They both were so delicious! The day we went it was really quick getting a spot to eat (probably because Festival was taking place that day and the foot traffic was more centered closer to the Monroe plaza part of town). A few of the different menu options that Cult Pizza lists on their website are: Black Bean & Greens, Double Decker Vegan Breakfast Pizza, Pesto Cashew, and good old Cheese pizza (vegan or dairy). But their website says that the menu is ever changing, and of course, you can build your own pizza as well. I can't wait to visit again!

This is a fantastic bakery to go and hang out or to pickup any assortment of delicious pastries! The cinnamon rolls are out of this world! The staff are always friendly and helpful, but go early because they sometimes run out of some of the favorites (though any good bakery SHOULD run out of stock to assure fresh baked replacements!).

omg - Scrambler calzone was mind blowing. Fresh from the farm everything. Anyone who thinks that eating local or veg compromises deliciousness is in for a head-spinning. That calzone was the best I've ever had - including from my meat & cheese days. Can't wait to go back. Pizza lover's dream. Would be even better with more seating and beer.

Bacon and Cheese pizza boyfriend and I had on Saturday evening was to die for! Seriously we've vowed this is the best pizza we've ever had. The only issue was that they closed at 10 on a Saturday night during Art Prize opening weekend. We were going to place an order for over $25.00, and I'm sure we wouldn't be the only ones. Tried to access their website a few times after we had eaten our heavenly food, but all the pages weren't working, not to mention there were no stated times. It would have been much easier, if they stated they closed at 10pm, then we wouldn't have walked all the way back after Art Prize. Their menu option also wasn't working; the page isn't directed towards anything - we would like to see what they plan on offering. After reading the reviews, I'm going to try to keep an open mind about the future. Come on Cult Pizza! Don't fail me!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
